Used lumber = front porch

Hey guys (and gals)!

We’ve been back in NC since Tuesday. We have the camper set up, running water, Sarah has worked hard to organize all our stuff, and progress is moving quickly.

It rained a lot yesterday and my truck got stuck in the driveway so we spent sometime this morning pulling it out. A 4 – wheel drive truck sure would be nice here but we’ll make due. Sarah’s car has remained parked because it certainly wasn’t made for the mountains in any kind of weather conditions. We’ve been been blessed by the use of my in laws ATV.

Today’s plans were to get used lumber we took off of my in-laws deck back at Christmas time so we could build a deck. We realised in the rain yesterday we definitely needed a little entry porch into the camper. We loaded up the wood at their house and came straight back so we could get to work.

The small deck and a few bails of hay will help tremendously for the mud issue in the camper. There is enough wood to make other things including a outdoor table/ work area.
I got some work lined up for this week. We are hoping to be able to start putting in footers before long and get 1 solar panel.

Also on the days to do list was to hang our hammock. This will provide the kids with some fun and us with some relaxation.

Some friends stopped by for a visit and to check on progress. We took them up the old trail on our property which our house will soon sit smack dab in the middle of.

Thanks for checking back in with us and be sure to stay tuned as we plan on hitting the ground running and making a lot progress really quickly.

  1. I admire you for being able to work together. My husband and I nearly got divorced (small exaggeration) by trying to mount a microwave and a new vent for the stove. Hang in there and stay strong. Hope your day is filled with blessings and love.
